“Contrology (Pilates) is designed to give you suppleness, natural grace, and skill that will be unmistakably reflected in the way you walk, in the way you play, and in the way you work.”
– Joseph Pilates
“True flexibility can be achieved only when all muscles are uniformly developed.”
–Joseph Pilate
Pilates embraces the idea of “Uniformed Development,” which requires one to turn down the “big” global muscles and strengthen or turn up the “smaller” intrinsic muscles giving your body a full and balanced workout!
“It’s the mind itself which shapes the body.”
–Joseph Pilate
Pilates is unique in that it not only strengthens your body but also engages and sharpens your mind. It is a full body experience.

Pilates is named after its founder, Joseph Pilates.
The Pilates Method engages the whole body with an emphasis on ones mind, body and spirit connection. Joseph Pilates called his method Contrology; he focused on 6 principles, which are considered to be the foundation of any Pilates practice. Theses founding principles are: Breath, Concentration, Center, Control, Precision, and Flow all of which we will strive for during our sessions together. Joseph Pilates opened his first studio in 1926 in New York City. His method is unique and is able to be tailored for people of all ages at all levels. One of our favorite quotes by Joseph Pilates is, “A few well designed movements, properly performed in a balanced sequence are worth hours of doing sloppy exercise.” It is our goal to use well-crafted movement to enhance your health, fitness and overall wellbeing.
